In January 1991 I moved from Rosbach vor der Höhe to Schellnhausen, part of the community of Feldatal, 80 km from Tandem Computers, my employer in Frankfurt. Part of the deal was that I would work from home. I never returned to working in an office, and it suited me completely.

Today was the Big Move. We were by ourselves: we had left Yana with Yvonne's brother Michael while we did the moving.

It was cold! The Steihs had turned off the heating, and it's underfloor heating, which doesn't warm up quickly. Fortunately there was a sauna in one of the upstairs flats, so we warmed ourselves there before an early night.
