In October 2009, Laurel Gordon visited us and brought lots of plants with her when she came. This page is an attempt to classify them and find appropriate photos. What we appear to have is:
A “Gruß an Aachen”, a creamy-flowered bush rose.
A “News” rose, with amethyst flowers, over 1 metre high. I can't find a photo of this one on the web.
A “Monsieur Tillier” tea rose, a vigorous shrub rose with pinkish-copper blooms.
“Phyllis Bide”, a climbing rose with small creamy flowers that change colour:
A Rosa officinalis with amethyst purple-red flowers in spring.
A Salix melanostachys, a rare willow with black catkins:
A dwarf willow (Salix) which looks almost like a bonsai.
An Iris graminea (“plum tart iris”) with scented flowers, about 30 cm tall:
A variegated water iris, which I planted in the minipond. It's really far too big, and I can see it moving soon.
A Libertia grandiflora, an iris-like plant from New Zealand. It has white flowers, and Laurel says that it's about 1 m high and very tough.
A Euphorbia melifera, a big specimen with a tendency to self-seed:
A Camellia sinensis, the tea Camellia:
An Itea ilicifolia, with lots of flowers:
These aren't my own photos, clearly. They'll come later. For now the question is where to plant them.
